How does your workplace embrace equality?
We do not discriminate based on gender, but create a safe space for all team members, trying to give everyone fair and equal opportunities. We have a policy where female employees can work from home during their menstrual cycles. We create opportunities for individuals who had to take a break in their careers due to maternity leave or any health concerns. We believe in humanity over anything else, showing compassion and understanding of the humans in front of us, rather than looking at them as just employees. Many of our hires are freshers, who have grown at Tummoc, and give them as many opportunities as possible to develop and fast-track their careers.

As a woman, how do you make sure that you embrace equality? When you are the decision maker how do you ensure you are not gender-biased?
I have never been one to look at gender as a differentiator. I look at the person in front of me, their intention, and what they do. And that’s how it should be while being mindful of everyone’s circumstances.

Do you believe that gender-inclusive policies are justified with an increasing number of women in the industry while still not being a 50% strength or close?

I think one needs to first look at the intention behind the policy. Whether it’s about safety, preventing sexual harassment irrespective of the gender in question, or menstrual cycle policies. Whatever it is, if it’s done for the outcome of having gender-inclusive policies, it’s important to look at what led to the need for that policy. Our ultimate goal is that every single individual at Tummoc—be it male, female, gender-neutral or non-conforming— is comfortable, at ease and feels accepted.
