New Delhi, May 9, 2022: India has returned to some levels of travel normalcy with relaxation in COVID restrictions and recently the international borders have also reopened after two years. The arrival of the summer travel season coupled with the easing of restrictions has once again strengthened the travel confidence amongst people. After spending two consecutive summers in lockdown, 2022 will be seen as the first summer season wherein people will be able to travel without any restrictions and apprehension. Please find appended the note specifying the summer travel trends witnessed for your reference.

Destinations and Accommodation options

After the coronavirus pandemic-induced hiatus for two years, travelers are keen on once again taking big bucket trips with their friends and family. This summer travel season along with long weekends ahead of us has encouraged people to plan their trips for a relaxed and refreshing break from the humdrum of everyday life. While people prefer varied options for accommodation, this summer season 80% of bookings are observed for hotels and 20% for alternate accommodations such as Villas, Cottages, Homestays, etc. Overall we have reached 90% of pre covid level for hotel bookings and the upswing continues.

International & Domestic Bookings

With the resumption of international flights and traveler confidence returning, we at Yatra.com have observed an average increase in domestic flight bookings by 85% and international flight bookings by 95% of pre covid levels accordingly. Delving further into this, friends and family comprise a majority part of domestic travel with 40% booking enquires from that particular group. With an increasing interest of travelers in exploring places like, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Northeast, and Kashmir are the leading domestic destinations people are preferring to travel and explore. Additionally, as the international borders have reopened, Paris, Switzerland, Thailand, Singapore, Bali, Dubai, and Mauritius are the top international destinations for this summer. Moreover, for international travel, we have received 70% of booking inquiries from honeymooners and leisure travelers. Domestic and international locations are providing interesting offerings and the travel and hospitality industry has been gearing up with customized services and packages among others to attract more travelers.

Company Offers

At Yatra.com, to promote summer travel, a summer special campaign called “Step Out. Get Going”, has subsequently been launched.
