Eco-friendly packaging of food and beverages.
For many years, conventional plastics are manufactured and used for packaging applications in different sectors. As the food industry is increasing, the demand for packaging material is also increasing. India is one of the leading nations for the production and use of plastic with overall plastic production of 24 million tons.
The world wants to go green and so do we in the Food and Beverage industry. Currently, Eco – friendly packaging is not only popular but also essential for maintaining high standards of packaging.
Eco-Friendly packaging trends are accepted globally. There is various type of packaging that is available in the market such as – Compostable food packaging, these are made from a polymer called PLA (Polylactic Acid); Bio Plastics, Plastic that is derived from the biological origin such as starch-based polysaccharide, Rice husk; Bio-Degradable, produced with renewable raw materials, micro-organisms, petrochemicals, or combinations of all three; Recyclable food packaging, Commonly used in most of the Food and Beverage spaces, these are made of Reusable packaging, paper, Bamboo, Aluminum, Glass and Polypropylene no.1 and no.5.
These Eco-Friendly packaging are a much more expensive option if compared to Plastics, but in a long run, this will help us negate the bad impact on our environment and help us in the pursuit of global environmental sustainability.
