As a GM, what is your role in terms of procurement?

The vendor exercise with the entire committee is planned and the tender for category A product which is grocery, dairy products, oil & essentials gets tender out in media. Then post that we take quotes from vendors, background checks, credit limits, samplings, and how the final product post consumption is checked. The procedure of yearly tendering, heavy and bulk purchases, involvement of the whole team & meet the vendor quarterly.

How closely do you work with the procurement team or purchase department for the same?

The procurement team has daily reporting on the products & services inflow. We have channelized the process of procurement. The committee is formed to ensure the best deals get close. Every quarter the committee discusses the opportunity to work with. The existing vendor cases are being discussed. Selective vendors’ personalized meeting is planned every quarterly along with the purchasing team. This enables better relations with stakeholders & supervision of market insights.

Are all purchases at your hotel centralized or are their local options and variations considered?

Not always do we procure from the local market. The perishable products is generally procured from local and near buy markets. Moreover, we look for better quality, supply durations service support & better prices. Some purchases are centrally located and we rely on them because of their quality products and trust in the services. Today’s era market has opened widely and plenty of products to choose from the open market. The key it finds a product of better quality and support and services.
