Switzerland is one destination that brings out the true-blue photographer in each of us. In just a day surrounded by its beautiful vistas and locales, you can turn into a pro shutterbug. The fall season from September to the end of November, though, is a very special time of the year, when the country really plays to the gallery! It is a place that requires no-filters and no touchups because the vibrant, bold hues of orange, red, golden and yellow provide the perfect frame against a perfect backdrop — a view that both you and your camera can never say no to.
To give you a glimpse of just how this golden season of Autumn brings alive every nook and cranny of Switzerland, here are some of our favourite snapshots that will take your breath away:
1. Autumn Along the Grand Tour of Switzerland
The Grand Tour of Switzerland is a 1,000-mile scenic route that takes you through some of the country’s most mesmerising landscapes. The best time to experience this region in all its glory is in the fall. Go on a long drive to really soak in and enjoy both the warmth and the view!
The best time to visit the Adventure Capital of the country is the hiking season from September to November which coincides with the fall season. The weather is not too hot nor too cold making it ideal for a trek up in the mountains or in the vibrant forests set ablaze with the colours of the season.
3. Lake Geneva Region
A boat ride on the pristine, crystal clear Lake Geneva with views of vineyards, chateaus and lush peaks, are stuff that dream holidays are made of! Doing this in the fall in Switzerland? Well, you can only imagine!
If you ever wish to travel to quaint, dreamlike place, that transports you to another realm, Lucerne is the place for you and your camera! Take a stroll through the cobbled streets, heritage bridges and churches or along its lakes and capture all its beauty in your frame.
There is so much to do in Zermatt in the golden season of Autumn. You can take a trek through its forests and parks, go mountain biking or enjoy the view from the cable car of Matterhorn Glacier Paradis as you go click-click-click.
Zurich, the largest city in the country, is simply unmissable in the fall. Bathed in the glow of the sun and offering a multitude of activities to indulge in, it is a city that will leave you smitten forever.
