On Earth day, General Managers from hotels have shared their inputs on how they are setting it right for the future. These hotels will definitely inspire many.

Harkaran Singh

General Manager ,Hyatt Regency Dehradun

Hyatt Regency Dehradun takes pride to announce that we are the first hotel in Dehradun to install a water bottling plant, thereby reducing atleast 3.5 lakh plastic bottles usage annually and supporting sustainable tourism.

The on-site bottling plant is our humble contribution to help conserve the environment and protect the rich marine life of India, guided by our purpose of CARE.

The water is alkaline mineralized for the well-being of our guests

Sanjay Kumar Ramanand

General Manager, Sayaji Raipur

Go green and make our mother earth a beautiful place to live (22nd April)

In recognition of Earth Day, Sayaji Raipur is striving to create awareness about how to keep the city clean and reduce pollution from our beautiful Raipur’s environment.

  • By replacing plastic bottles with glass bottles
  • Converting wet garbage and food leftovers into manure.
  • The wastewater can be recycled – as it can be used for washing cars and watering plants
  • Switch from regular 50 watt bulb to 90 watt led bulb to reduce electricity consumption.

Planting a tree is best method to reduce pollution –

Each year trees absorb around 50 pounds of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.

Different species of trees grow in different seasons.

Due to deforestation it is estimated that almost 28000 species will become extinct in the next 20-25 years.

Planting trees has quickly emerged as a seemingly simple way to soak up carbon emissions. Everybody likes it: Environmentalists, politicians, and corporations alike are pushing for a rapid expansion of reforestation efforts to help meet climate goals.

The importance of tree plantation is quite significant, as it is associated with our basic need for good food to eat and fresh air to breathe. Apart from these basic necessities, they maintain biodiversity, conserve water, preserve soil, control climate etc.

Today, as the world searches for solutions to global climate change, tree planting has become more popular than ever. It’s a simple and appealing response to an overwhelming, existential crisis, and it makes for easy messaging: anyone can go out and plant a tree to help restore balance to Earth’s climate. But for many large-scale tree-planting initiatives, the focus is on the number of new trees that end up in the ground, not on planting the right trees in the right places or caring for them after planting to ensure they survive.

So, Sayaji is going to take a step to plant trees on Earth Day with all the staffs and employees in the premises to promote the campaign of conserving our earth, plants and trees.

Vinay Nair

General Manager, DoubleTree by Hilton, Pune-Chinchwad

May The Forest Be with You

DoubleTree by Hilton, Pune Chinchwad has always believed in the saying of what goes around, comes around and to prove this very saying our premises has taken a lot of initiates to give it back to what the nature has given us.

There has been an increasing need for worry when it comes to plastic, we at DoubleTree by Hilton, Pune-Chinchwad have gone Plastic bottle free and adopted Glass bottles as a means of serving the very basic necessity of human culture i.e., Water. We have also shifted from plastic straws to straws that are made from Rice Starch.

Taking the initiatives further ahead, we see a lot of food being wasted and the garbage is just thrown into the trash and is of no use however we have stepped up and installed our system in such a way wherein all the Wet garbage and food leftovers from all our outlets is turned into compost which is healthy for the growth of the plants and the surroundings. This compost produced is further either donated in nurseries etc. or it is distributed amongst the employees of the hotel.

We may have come across the statement about why we should be consuming controlled levels of electricity and how if it isn’t conserved, we could lead to serious consequences. In our hotel, we have replaced all the 50Watt bulbs to 9Watt LED bulbs in order to save the consumption of electricity.

There has also been an initiative taken by us wherein we have installed Timers in the hotel for controlling the timings of lights in the premises. These timers automatically turn off the equipment when it reaches a certain level of electricity consumption and then turn the equipment back on when necessary. These equipment’s include – ACs in the lobby, signages and night lamps and lights to count a few.

This year’s theme for the Earth Day 2022 as recognized by National World is, ‘Invest in Our Planet’. Taking this initiative and the theme forward, we at DoubleTree by Hilton would be investing in our planet by planting trees in the premises on 22nd April 2022 – Earth Day. The entire team and family of DoubleTree

by Hilton, Pune-Chinchwad would be participating in this drive and would be making every little contribution that they can to give it back to the mother nature.

This year on Earth Day, the DoubleTree by Hilton, Pune-Chinchwad family urges you to take this one step in preserving the nature and promotes the planting of trees as a small gesture of appreciation to our motherland.
