Being eco-friendly simply means changing your lifestyle and including initiatives for the betterment of the environment. Building a truly eco-friendly environment is just about taking some small steps to make the planet a better place for generations to come. The steps undertaken at Grand Mercure GIFT City include a number of initiatives like our in-house EV Charging station.

Currently, our country is riding the EV wave. According to data from the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, total registered EV volumes across all segments combined reached 3.13 lakh units in 2021. Retail sales of electric vehicles (EVs) clocked 390,399 units in the first half of the calendar year 2022. This represents a 333% year-over-year (YoY) growth compared to the 90,102 units sold in the same period last year. According to the NITI Aayog report, the country is aiming for a 30% market share in the EV industry by 2030. All of these figures show that India is steadily moving towards an EV revolution.

Keeping that in mind and ensuring sustainability is at the core of what Accor Hotels does, we installed an EV charging station at the hotel last year.

As the demand for electric vehicles grows, EV charging stations are being offered in the hospitality sector for the convenience of guests that visit the hotel. Guests can now charge their vehicles while they stay or dine at the hotel.

As part of this trend and sustainable evolution, we have an EV charging station that guests can easily access at Sheraton Grand Bangalore Hotel at Brigade Gateway. We have also planned the installation of multiple EV charging stations that will be fully functional before the end of the year.
