The economic success of a country is reflected through the ‘Tourism Revenues (higher the better) and Unemployment Rates (lower the better) and through the ChaloIndia program the Honourable Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi is addressing both these critical measurement areas. Higher the tourism – more jobs which means higher tourism revenues and low unemployment. As Indians we need to be true ambassadors of our countries and invite our friends, colleagues and more to visit our country and explore the beauty and adventure it offers. Per me, India has the most beautiful, diverse and history filled landscape to explore. I think ChaloIndia program is a masterstroke because it is making every Indian who is out of the country a stakeholder in its growth and making them accountable for execution by making the task measurable.

Hotels can and will play a major role in the success of the ChaloIndia initiative. They should create packages and experience tours to for the guests coming in to discover India to truly discover it. The hospitality needs to be par excellence and most importantly a reflection of what our beloved country is. Various options can be extended which include a special rate / package which is offered against the code ChaloIndia on its booking portals. Amenities can reflect the program… Marketing boards can be present in the lobby and the team trained to deliver the experience of discovery.

The impact will only be positive. With Travel, Tourism and Hospitality bouncing back so strongly – I see the ChaloIndia program only adding to the upside. I feel if the program is effectively leveraged it can become a big boost in the lean season.

ChaloIndia is an #incredibleinitiative and a proactive initiative. It is exciting to see the focus the Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi places on showcasing the India to the world and the innovative practices and ideas he brings to the table. The initiative is simple and yet will have high impact!

“This is indeed a novel yet beautifully simple initiative that can create a significant impact on Tourism in India. Even if a minuscule percentage of our 1.3 billion citizens, are able to convince a few of their overseas relatives and friends to visit India’s great attractions, the results can be enormous. And I am sure, those visiting India for the first time will not return disappointed and will carry with them some memorable moments that will make them come back again. There’s so much that India has to offer to it’s tourists and with our inherent spirit of Atithi Devo Bhava, we are surely poised to be the world’s most hospitable tourist destination.”

It sounds like a great initiative & campaign, if executed well. It must also be able to deliver and not lost mid-way. It is great real vision but important is the execution on multiple levels with tourism bodies, hotels, agents can all get together.

The recently launched campaign by the Ministry of Tourism targeting the Indian Diaspora urging them to inspire at least 5 of their non-Indian friends to visit India can generate a lot of revenue, if the Indian diaspora makes  sincere efforts to encourage their non-Indian friends to visit India.

This is in line with PM Modi’s ‘Chalo India’ campaign. If every single Indian abroad is able to convince even a single friend of his, it can lead to a significant amount of foreign earnings. According to rough estimates there are around 18 million Indians living outside of their country.  Even if they are able to convince even 5 percent of people it would be an addition of around 8 to 10 lakh visitors.

Imagine what kind of positive impact it will have on the hospitality industry. The industry which has suffered immensely due to the pandemic will earn good revenues. The domestic aviation industry will also get a big fillip. Besides others such as taxi and private car operators, restaurants as well as dhabas on the highway will also get a windfall. It is a win-win situation for everyone. I hope all the Indian diaspora will exhort their friends to visit India
