INDIA, 17 January 2024 ‒ AirAsia announced a brand new connectivity to its expanding network to and from India, launching a new route to Kuala Lumpur from India’s first UNESCO World Heritage City ‒ Ahmedabad.

This new route, set to take flight on 1 May 2024, will add to the airline’s rapidly growing connectivity to Malaysia, marking AirAsia’s eleventh route from India, and third new route in 2024 alone. This will also serve as AirAsia’s first step into the state of Gujarat from Malaysia, further cementing its foothold in South Asia.

The bustling city of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia’s capital is no stranger for many travellers from India. With a tropical climate and countless choices of local food to suit any taste bud, the city beckons visitors from all walks of life. From Kuala Lumpur, travellers can explore many neighbouring cities in the country, or pitstop at some of the country’s world-famous islands.

To celebrate this milestone, AirAsia is offering promotional fares for travellers from Ahmedabad wishing to explore Kuala Lumpur. Fly from only INR7,999* to the Malaysian city and from just RM209* from Kuala Lumpur to Ahmedabad when you book from now till 28 January 2024 for travel between 1 May 2024 till 19 March 2025 on the airasia Superapp or www.airasia.com.

“We couldn’t be more thrilled to announce yet another venture of AirAsia from the beautiful Ahmedabad to Kuala Lumpur as we continue to celebrate the commendable initiative by the government for visa free entry into Malaysia for Indian nationals.  A city that is steeped in deeply-rooted traditions and heritage, Kuala Lumpur is a world-famous tourist hotspot for adventure seekers, globe trotters and foodies alike.

“When we launched our very first flight into India in 2008, our vision and mission had always been to enhance affordable connectivity between our two nations. Both Malaysia and India have plenty of untapped tourism potential and it’s been amazing to see how travel has boomed in both countries in the last decade. AirAsia will continue to broaden our horizons of connectivity, which undoubtedly will encourage and allow for more people to travel to various unexplored gems of India affordably.”

AirAsia Group Limited Group Chief Executive Officer, Bo Lingam

The birth story of AirAsia, the World’s Best Low Cost Airline and the aviation arm of Capital A, is an industry legend. It started back in 2001 when Tony Fernandes and Kamarudin Meranun bought an ailing airline with two aircraft and 200 staff and turned it into the largest low-cost carrier in Asia and home to thousands of AirAsia ‘Allstars’ around the globe. In the last two decades, the airline has gone on to carry close to a billion passengers to over 130 destinations in 23 countries within its network. With the mission to serve the underserved, AirAsia has connected people and places, and has largely been credited for democratising air travel in the region with its famous tagline ‘Now Everyone Can Fly’.
