The hospitality industry has drastically changed in the past couple of years. Most of it is due to the heavy role that technology plays. One of the major changes has been due to the migration to cloud technology that offers efficiency without enquiring any high cost. Automation has been the other trend that has changed the way guests are served in the hospitality industry. It has led to freeing up a lot of tasks and ensuring clear communication. However, the real change that took place was due to the pandemic when online ordering, self-checkouts, and touchless payments to delivery and pick-up services too that led to not only reinventing the business but also seamlessly surviving in the competitive field.

The technological advances have changed the way we live. There is no aspect of life in which these innovations have not helped us. We can’t imagine a life without the newer technologies which have revolutionized the entire spectrum. The hospitality industry has benefited immensely due to the advent of such revolutionary ideas and concepts.

From Key cards to e- check ins to digital menus to temperature control panels in the rooms- these new concepts have made the life of the hotelier as well as the guest very comfortable. Each one of us has become so dependent on it that we can’t visualize a life without these gadgets. With every one carrying smartphones, the hospitality industry is reaching out to each individual and offering personalised services. It is possible to make tailor made packages keeping in mind the preferences of the guest.

There are environment friendly aspects to it as well. Imagine an old day when everything was printed, how much of paper was wasted. Now everything is emailed or sent directly to WhatsApp, It has helped in reducing the wastage of paper and thus contributed towards the cause of the environment.

The use of technology has helped every department of the hotel.  From the purchase managers to the account department, each one-uses customised software.  Most of the hotels are using immersive techno fixes. With it they are able to provide a 360-degree view of the property and guests are aware about the room and property facilities before they check in.

More and more hotels are adopting the smart technology which is helping the industry immensely.
