“In 2023, the travel and hospitality industry went through a transformative shift, witnessing a surge in demand for midscale, upscale, and luxury accommodations. Notably, domestic tourism took center stage, fuelled by heightened interest in exploring one’s own country, which was supported by government initiatives, and further propelled by India hosting the G20 presidency and the ICC Men’s World Cup 2023. Destinations such as Lonavala, Mamallapuram, Chennai, and Goa were most preferred by leisure travelers, while Vizag and Kumbhalgarh gained popularity for their off-beat experiences. Karjat, Mysore, Udaipur, and Kashmir continued to fuel demand for the wedding season. The year also celebrated the discovery of off-beat locations, a rise in wellness tourism, and the spotlighting of hidden culinary gems.
In line with this evolving landscape, Radisson Hotel Group continues to expand its presence in tier 2 and 3 markets across India. Recognizing the growing interest in domestic tourism, we are set to open hotels in key markets and are excited to introduce our luxury lifestyle brand, Radisson Collection to the Indian audience in 2024.
Amidst recent challenges, the industry has learned the importance of resilience, adaptability, and prioritizing the well-being of both guests and staff. Looking forward to 2024, the emphasis is expected to shift towards technology-driven conveniences, sustainability, and experiential travel. The journey ahead calls for collaboration, adaptability, and a commitment to delivering unparalleled experiences that align with the evolving needs of consumers.”
