How does your workplace embrace equality?
JW Marriott Hotel Bengaluru has always been a pioneer in embracing gender equality. From our restaurants, to security workforce, service teams, guest relations, culinary, sales and marketing to owner’s meeting we don’t just have female representation everywhere but a woman leader across departments. The hotel has seen a massive surge and has now moved up to a 30% of women employee workforce in the hotel.
As a woman, how do you make sure that you embrace equality?
As the International Women’s Day 2023 theme is #EmbraceEquity, we ensure fair resources are provided to both genders to perform better in order to embrace equality.
When you are the decision maker how do you make sure you are not gender biased?
Rationally it all boils down to merit and performance. However, we also factor in the emotional/human angle but in no way does it impact the decision-making power.
Do you believe that gender inclusive policies are justified with an increasing number of women in the industry while still not being a 50% strength or close?
Hospitality industry is certainly witnessing a sea change when it comes to gender diversity and inclusivity. I can say with confidence that 70% of the workforce is women while 40% are men, in the Sales and Marketing department at JW Marriott Hotel Bengaluru.
Talking about gender inclusive policies, I can say that the hospitality industry has been extremely gender inclusive at all fronts and we have never been in a need of gender inclusive policies, that itself discriminates against gender.
