How does your workplace embrace equality?

Equality in the workplace that ensures, people are given equal opportunities, equal pay, and are well accepted for their differences. It is creating an inclusive and conducive work environment where employees feel secure and happy. Equality ensures removing any chances of discrimination in the workplace especially for women.

Everyone must be treated fairly in all day-to-day activities and work-related decisions (recruitment, training, promotion, allocating work, pay, etc.). But we should go further still.

As a woman, how do you make sure that you embrace equality? When you are the decision maker how do you make sure you are not gender biased?

As a woman empowerment, in 21st centuries our world is constructed in a way that makes us compare ourselves to the beauty standards set by the media, culture and society. We constantly measure ourselves against other people and feel judged by our physical appearance. Body shaming is a learned behavior, so it’s important for parents to lead by example.

Role models come in all shapes, sizes, genders, skin tones and cultural backgrounds. Encourage your children to embrace diversity, show them role models from different genders, ethnicities and colour and remind them that they can be anything they want to be, regardless of their gender. Always self-Check your own biases.

Do you believe that gender inclusive policies are justified with an increasing number of women in the industry while still not being a 50% strength or close?

“Women have occupied leadership positions in the past as well. However, much focus and attention weren’t given. In the present era, media and society is much more vocal about such aspects. Gone are the days when in certain fields we use to see fewer women occupying senior positions. Today Women’s representing all the sectors be it in – IT, BFSI, real estate etc.

I believe Cremica Foods has always been a great place to work for employees, irrespective of gender. The company provides an equal opportunity for all, where employees get ample scope to grow both professionally as well as personally. Also, Cremica Foods happens to be one of the rare Indian Food companies to be headed by a Woman Founder. As an organization, the company also supports women to pursue careers in tech, and we have partnered with Girls in Tech, a non-profit engagement that empowers girls and women who are passionate about technology.

The aspirational woman of the 21st century has a steep learning and career curve ahead of them. There are varied new areas and fields for them to explore, whether it’s across science and technology, banking and finance, management, arts, literature etc. Also, it’s a great opportunity for women across rural India to have access to information and knowledge in this digital era.
