This initiative marks a momentous step in nurturing and showcasing talent within the Tourism and hospitality industry in India.

“THSC cordially invites both young professionals and students to partake in IndiaSkills 2023-24 for the pursuit of excellence in the field of hospitality. THSC serves as a standardized platform, bridging the gap between industry, government, skill partners, and students. IndiaSkills serves as the precursor to the prestigious WorldSkills competition, an internationally acclaimed event that unites participants from across the globe to showcase their vocational prowess. Those who qualify in IndiaSkills at the national level will represent India on the global stage at the forthcoming WorldSkills competition in Lyon, France in 2024. Organized by WorldSkills International and boasting 86 member countries, this is the world’s largest skill competition and is often referred to as the “Olympics of Skills.”

“Our primary role involves organizing and conducting all stages of competitions, providing training for each skill, conducting three rounds of pre-selection competitions, and ensuring effective communication with all competitors throughout the events. We maintain a close collaboration with state Skill Missions, NSDC, jury members, experts, and competitors, overseeing training plans aimed at enhancing their skills.”

THSC’s vital responsibilities in the IndiaSkills competitions encompass capacity building, competitor selection, the development of multiple-choice questions (MCQs) for online tests, creating sample test projects for each competition stage, and overseeing infrastructure requirements from the district level to the national level. The judging criteria are based on WorldSkills parameters, and the IndiaSkills competition typically spans three days.

THSC has consistently demonstrated its commitment to excellence at the WorldSkills competitions. Noteworthy achievements at the WorldSkills Special Edition 2022 competition include Nandita Saxena securing a Silver Medal in Patisserie & Confectionery, Anushree Srinivasan earning a Bronze Medal in Hotel Reception, Prathem Sharma achieving a Medallion of Excellence in Bakery, and Subrat Patel winning a Medallion of Excellence in Restaurant Service.
