Kolkata: Marriott International, a leading global hospitality company, has announced its commitment to sustainability and social impact with its “Serve 360 initiative”. Marriott hotels in South Asia planted trees on the occasion of Earth Day, 22nd April 2023.

As part of this initiative, The Westin Kolkata Rajarhat celebrated Earth Day 2023 by organizing a tree plantation drive. A total of 304 saplings were planted at the property which aims to create a green cover in the region and inspire citizens with their small action towards protecting its environment. The property also believes that everyone has a role to play in making a positive impact on the planet and encourages people to join such initiatives in their locality.

The hotel chain had planned to plant trees proportionate to the number of room keys in each hotel, with a total of 22,222 trees to be planted across South Asia. This number aligned with the date of Earth Day, making it a meaningful and impactful way to celebrate the occasion. The initiative was in line with Marriott’s commitment to sustainable business practices and its dedication to serving the world. The trees planted helped to preserve natural habitats, nurture wildlife, restore ecosystems, sustain biodiversity, and build a healthier planet for future generations.
