Ras Al Khaimah, UAE, 20 December 2023: Ras Al Khaimah is set to make history once again by attempting to break two GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ with its spectacular New Year’s Eve fireworks display featuring novel choreography and groundbreaking techniques that have never been attempted before. The awe-inspiring showcase spanning eight minutes of pure enchantment will unfold along 4.5KM of shoreline stretching from Al Marjan Island to Al Hamra Village, providing a stunning backdrop to the celebrations.
The year’s fireworks display will feature a dazzling combination of a breathtaking “carpet” of aquatic pyrotechnics, LED drones and fireworks choreographed to a music specifically composed for this event. The fireworks and drone show will light up the sky in a spectacular display inspired by the natural wonders and topography of Ras Al Khaimah – Sea, Desert and Mountains with the aim to attempt two new records; the ‘Longest chain of aquatic floating fireworks’, and the ‘Longest straight-line drone display’ .
“Building on our past successes, Ras Al Khaimah continues to push boundaries and create unforgettable experiences for residents and visitors alike. With this New Year’s Eve celebration, we aim not only to illuminate the sky and bring communities together but also to set two new GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ that will further cement Ras Al Khaimah’s position as the ideal destination to celebrate the new year.”
Raki Phillips, Chief Executive Officer at Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority
With over 50,000 spectators expected to witness the show, two events from where to watch the fireworks will be available – a free-access musical festival open to the public and a paid access event called SoundFest. The public event includes a dedicated viewing section, kids’ activities, food trucks and live entertainment. For those looking to enhance their fireworks experience, there’s the option to purchase tickets to the SoundFest event for AED300 per person on platinumlist. SoundFest will provide an elevated viewing and music experience, featuring a lineup of sensational bands from around the world. Highlights include a U2 tribute band from the UK, Code Masr for a fusion of Egyptian rock, RainaEg with Raï music from North Africa, and Arabic Indie pop-rock vibes by Dabbet Namla. To close out the night in style, DJ BIA will be spinning tunes to keep the dance floor alive – the perfect way to end the year.
Other exciting new additions to this year’s celebration are free-access areas dedicated for camping and caravans as well as a Vehicle Viewing Point for those looking to watch the fireworks from the comfort of their own cars.
The extraordinary celebration builds on Ras Al Khaimah’s legacy of organising record-breaking New Year’s Eve celebrations and reflects its commitment to bringing visitors, residents and all communities together. It also marks Ras Al Khaimah’s record-high growth in visitor numbers in 2023 and full tourism recovery propelling the Emirate towards its goal of attracting over 3 million annual visitors by 2030.
