As a GM, what is your role in terms of procurement?

As a General Manager, I arrange to procure raw material goods, food provisions, Beverages, Liquor, decor, and other necessary purchases of Housekeeping and Engineering from sustainable and reliable vendors and employ people to procure them. I personally upkeep relationships with the vendors to ensure the highest quality of product and timely delivery of goods.

How closely do you work with the procurement team or purchase department for the same?

I work very closely with both the procurement team and the purchase department by checking in with them multiple times a week to keep track of purchase orders. It’s very important for a GM to be involved in this process as it ensures continuity of quality and timed delivery.

Are all purchases at your hotel centralized or are their local options and variations considered?

The purchases that our hotel makes are very supportive of local vendors and we keep onboarding new local businesses to support them and also to keep upgrading our product. While some purchases are centralised, we mostly rely on local vendors for our purchases.
