Jamaica emerges as the World’s Leading Tourism Destination

All India, 21 November 2023: Jamaica once again has proved itself as a world-leading tourism destination, taking home a whopping total of eight awards in the prestigious gold and silver categories at the 2023 Travvy Awards held on November 2 in Fort Lauderdale.

The destination was honoured with six gold statuettes for:

■  Best Tourism Board – Caribbean

■  Best Destination – Caribbean

■  Best Wedding Destination – Caribbean

■  Best Honeymoon Destination

■  Best Culinary Destination – Caribbean

■  Best Cruise Destination – Caribbean

The 9th annual Travvy Awards, produced by TravelPulse and AGENTatHOME, recognized the top suppliers, destinations, hotels, cruise lines, airlines, tour operators, and more, which is determined by; Northstar’s esteemed audience of travel advisor professionals.

Jamaica was also named as the ‘Caribbean’s Best Culinary Destination’ at the 2023 World Culinary Awards ceremony held at Atlantis The Royal in Dubai, United Arab Emirates last month.

With Jamaica securing multiple awards this year, there is an increasing demand and aspiration of Indian travellers wanting to visit Jamaica. Development of new air routes are now in place, to help boost the tourism industry of Jamaica.

American Airlines are set to operate scheduled service from Miami to Ocho Rios from February 24, 2024 that will increase to more than 100 the carrier’s weekly flights between the United States and Jamaica. Service to Ocho Rios will operate twice weekly connecting with American’s hub at Miami International Airport.

In order to strengthen tourism ties between India and Jamaica, Jamaica has now been emerging as one of the most sought-after tourism destination the Caribbean. The island destination has been pro-actively creating awareness and engaging the Indian market to drive tourism growth in Jamaica from India.

Since, United Airlines have now doubled their daily non-stop flights between Delhi and Newark (New York) during the winter of 2023-24. With the ability to connect easily via their New York/Newark hub to more than 70 locations around the Americas, this expansion of service will give their cherished clients in India even more travel options and flexibility. This enhancement will enable Indian travellers to travel to Jamaica more seamlessly.

The Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB), founded in 1955, is Jamaica’s national tourism agency based in the capital city of Kingston. JTB offices are also located in Montego Bay, Miami, Toronto and London. Representative offices are located in New Delhi, Mumbai, Berlin, Barcelona, Rome, Amsterdam, Tokyo and Paris. In 2022, Jamaica topped the World Travel Awards across multiple categories, most notably as the winner of Caribbean’s Leading Tourist Destination and JTB as the Caribbean’s Leading Tourist Board.
