IHCL having persistently worked towards optimizing energy, water usage and responsible waste management, has set global benchmark with the 77 EarthCheck certified hotels including the largest number of Platinum certified hotels in the tourism industry, anywhere in the world. Other environmental efforts include increased consumption of renewable energy. Two of group’s hotels, the iconic The Taj Mahal Palace, Mumbai and Taj Bengal, Kolkata are 100% green. From introducing India’s first zero-single use plastic hotel Taj Exotica Resort & Spa, Andamans, IHCL’s additional measures include, installation of bottling plants across 22 hotels to replace all plastic water bottles with reusable glass bottles and switching to bio degradable wrapping of dry amenities in guest rooms.
Long being heralded as custodians of Indian heritage, IHCL in collaboration with UNESCO helps safeguard and promote the intangible cultural heritage of India. From Bagru Hand Block Printing and Blue Pottery at Jaipur to a celebration of the divine force, Durga Puja in Kolkata orGanga Aarti in Varanasi, the partnership through experiential tours showcases the living heritage of the country.
