Mumbai, 25th November 2024: Goa has made an extraordinary mark on the global tourism scene by winning the prestigious ‘Best Coastal Spirit Showcase’ award at the Tashkent International Tourism Fair (TITF) 2024 held at the CAEx in Tashkent. The award was presented to Goa’s delegation by Mr. Dilshad Bahadirovich, Director of the “National PR-center” SUE under the Tourism Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan. This remarkable achievement not only celebrates Goa’s diverse tourism offerings but also highlights its growing reputation as a key player in the international tourism industry.
The delegation, led by Shri Rohan A. Khaunte, Hon’ble Minister for Tourism, Information & Technology; Electronics & Communications, and Printing and Stationery, included Shri Shawn Mendes, OSD to the Minister for Tourism; Shri Deepak Narvekar, Deputy General Manager; and Shri Anil Dalal, Manager, GTDC. Together, they presented Goa as a holistic travel destination that goes beyond its iconic beaches, emphasizing hinterland experiences and responsible tourism.
Shri Rohan A. Khaunte paid tribute at the Lal Bahadur Shastri Monument in Tashkent, honouring the legacy of Indo-Uzbek relations. Reflecting on the shared history and friendship between the two nations, this journey of remembrance underscored the deep cultural ties that bind India and Uzbekistan.
Shri Khaunte also met with the Deputy Chairman for Commerce and Tourism Shukhrat Yadgarov of Uzbekistan Airlines to discuss enhancing air connectivity and increasing flight frequency between Tashkent and Goa. Strengthening this vital link is expected to boost tourism and foster closer bilateral ties, paving the way for mutual growth.
Additionally, Shri Khaunte held a productive discussion with Shri Umid Shadiev, focusing on enhancing tourism relations between Goa and Uzbekistan. The conversation explored collaborative initiatives aimed at promoting tourism, fostering cultural exchange, and driving mutual economic growth for both regions.
The Goa Tourism pavilion at TITF 2024 attracted significant attention, with its engaging discussions, innovative VR experiences, and captivating cultural performances. These elements offered visitors a unique perspective on Goa’s charm and sparked meaningful conversations on potential collaborations and investments in Goa’s tourism sector.
