Hyderabad, India, March 11, 2023 – The hotels of the Marriott International Hyderabad cluster, which include Le Meridien Hyderabad, The Westin Hyderabad Mindspace, Sheraton Hyderabad Hotel, Hyderabad Marriott Hotel & Convention Centre, Courtyard by Marriott Hyderabad and Marriott Executive Apartment, collaborated to organize a Walkathon event. This is collaborative endeavor involving six Marriott hotels in the form of the “Equality March” was part of a cluster activity. The aim of this event was to acknowledge and celebrate women’s accomplishments and advancements towards equality. This year’s Walkathon was particularly significant, as it recognized the progress made towards gender equality while also emphasizing the continued efforts needed to achieve equality for all.

The Walkathon was hosted at Le Meridien Hyderabad on March 11, 2023. Beginning at 6:30 am from the Gachibowli area, the event involved a 1.5km walk and was open to all, with attendees encouraged to demonstrate their support for the cause. The Walkathon celebrated women’s accomplishments and advancements towards equality and was followed by an energizing Zumba session, where participants enjoyed some lively music and worked up a sweat. Hon’ble Smt. Shilpavalli Koganti, DCP-Madhapur, graced the event with her presence and enlightened the attendees about the importance of best practices for building a safer society for females. She also emphasized the importance of women’s independence and being career-oriented. At the conclusion of the Walkathon, participants were treated to a delectable breakfast, where they mingled and exchanged their experiences. The Walkathon served as an opportunity for the hotels of the Marriott International Hyderabad cluster to network, exchange thoughts, and interact with individuals who share a common passion for empowering women. The event was designed to educate and inspire women to assume leadership positions, challenge stereotypes, and foster gender equality as part of Marriott International’s dedication to empowering women with South Asia. Marriott has adopted the theme #BeBold.BeU for the present year.

Before the event, the hotels at the property level arranged various sessions for their female associates to focus on important topics, such as women’s safety, mental health, financial planning, fitness, and enjoyable activities.

By bringing together people from various backgrounds to celebrate women’s achievements and advancements towards equality, the hotels of the Marriott International Hyderabad cluster aspire to organize more events throughout the year to encourage gender equality and empower women in the future.
