India has emerged as a Destination for Medical / Wellness Travel in Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.

India is the epicentre for Wellness tourism through its legacy built over centuries for Ayurveda, Yoga, Sidha, Naturopathy, etc. together with the spiritual philosophy that has been integral to the Indian way of life. Since centuries, our sages/saints are practicing various routines and exercises that focus on a person’s overall wellness and health. It has resulted in wellness tourism in India booming and flourishing at a rapid pace. We have never shied away from sharing our ancient knowledge to ensure people lead a stress-free existence. Our wellness systems have a high potential as it was developed through centuries of ancient civilizations’ cumulative wisdom. Similarly, Medical tourism is a rapidly-growing practice where we have traveller coming in to India to seek healthcare services which include elective procedures as well as complex surgeries. This is driven through the fact that India is known for its rigorous regime to create doctors par-excellence and the fact that our doctors/surgeons have been on the forefront of medical innovation and execution. Language accessibility and affordability of procedures is the other reason why India today is a growing destination for both Wellness and Medical Tourism.

In our various businesses there is a clear focus on Wellness. In our Institutions we have a ‘Wellness Suite’ that focuses on the complete Wellness Wheel which includes mental health, spiritual health, financial health, physical health and more. Through MultiFit we are again able to focus on health holistically and extend the services and thought process across our group companies. Take the simple yet very impactful initiative of ‘Fitness Friday’ which ensures 60 minutes of fitness weekly followed by activities recommended for the remaining six days to drive wellness for the Lexicon Family which is 20000 + strong.

It is fantastic to know and see that there are diverse array of wellness treatments being provided that are customized as per individual requirements. Across the wellness resorts one can find tailor-made packages available here that are created as per individual health. This will only grow.

Whilst we don’t own any hotels – through our personal travels and the research carried out by the research of Lexicon Institute of Hotel Management we have seen a steady increase in International Travellers (+42% vs STLY) which is encouraging but still lower than the pre-covid levels. Although, I can confidently say that 2022 will beat the pre-covid 2019 by at least 18%. India is and will continue to grow as a destination for wellness and healing due to its rich heritage. Our latest celebrity guest who came across to be healed… I am told was Will Smith.

Looking forward to seeing India becoming the Capital for Wellness and Medical Tourism.
