Furthermore, projections for 2024-25 are optimistic with total tourism contribution to the GDP forecasted to reach 7.6 per cent by 2034, creating approximately 6.3 crores jobs. Propelled by an expanding middle class and a 9 per cent annual growth5 in travel spending, India’s domestic market is poised to surpass Japan and Mexico, reaching the fourth spot globally by 2030.

The Ministry of Tourism introduced the Dekho Apna Desh initiative. This central govt scheme aims to promote domestic Indian tourism and encourage people to explore the country while also boosting the economy of the nation.
