As the General Manager of Crowne Plaza Chennai Adyar Park Hotel, I am proud to be part of an organization that is committed to investing in our planet. This Earth Day, the theme “Invest in our Planet” resonates with our core values as a sustainable and eco-conscious hotel. In this article, I would like to share some of the practices that we have adopted at Crowne Plaza to be

eco-friendly, promote sustainable tourism, and offer holistic wellness offerings.

At Crowne Plaza Chennai Adyar Park, we strive to minimize our environmental impact by implementing sustainable practices throughout our hotel operations. We have taken several initiatives such as:

• We have implemented a comprehensive waste management program to ensure that all waste generated in the hotel is recycled, reused, or disposed of responsibly.
• We have replaced all incandescent bulbs with LED lights to reduce our energy consumption.
• We have installed low-flow showerheads and faucets to conserve water.
• We use eco-friendly cleaning products and amenities made from sustainable materials.

The future of hospitality is undoubtedly eco-friendly and sustainable hotels. • Encouraging guests to participate in our green initiatives such as our “Plant a Tree” campaign, where guests can plant a tree and contribute to reforestation efforts.
• Supporting local businesses that prioritize sustainable practices and offer locally sourced products.
• Encouraging guests to minimize water usage in their bathrooms.
• IHG Hotels and Resorts has bought Bulk-size bathroom amenities across 6000 hotels around the globe. Building on its efforts to reduce plastic waste as part of a broader sustainability agenda, this pledge makes IHG the first global hotel company to commit all brands to removing bathroom miniatures in favour of bulk-size amenities.
• Utilising Green Energy by sourcing our electricity through wind mills and solar farms,
• Replacing imported meats. Vegetables and cheese with locally grown ingredients.
