The rising demand for sustainable hotels has indeed become a compelling trend, with eco-tourism travelers playing a pivotal role in driving this transformation within the hospitality industry, particularly in India.
Eco-conscious travelers are increasingly prioritizing sustainability, seeking accommodations that align with their values and leave a minimal ecological footprint. India, with its diverse landscapes and rich cultural heritage, has emerged as a significant destination for eco-tourism. In this context, sustainable hotels are meeting the burgeoning demand for responsible and environmentally friendly travel experiences.
These hotels are adopting a multifaceted approach to sustainability, encompassing energy-efficient operations, responsible waste management, and a commitment to conserving local ecosystems. Many have implemented renewable energy sources, reduced water consumption, and adopted eco-friendly construction and operational practices.
At Sheraton Whitefield Bengaluru, sustainability is at the core of our vision. We aim to become a NET-ZERO GHG emission company by 2050 and are committed to setting science-based emissions reduction targets in line with the 1.5°C emissions scenarios. Our developments include striving to reach NET-ZERO value chain GHG emissions by 2050 and transparently tracking and reporting company-wide emissions and progress annually.
We’ve implemented a range of sustainable practices, including the implementation of residential bath amenities, sourcing cage-free eggs, offering a significant portion of plant-based food options, and actively tracking food waste. We have also sourced renewable energy, conducted an energy audit, and re-energized our linen and terry reuse program. Installation of EV chargers with renewable energy sources is on the horizon for Q4-2023.
We’re working toward the implementation of reusable alternatives to single-use plastic water bottles in guestrooms, compliance with the Responsible Seafood Program, reducing water intensity, and attaining a Hotel Sustainable Certification. These efforts align with the preferences of eco-tourism travelers and position us as a preferred choice for those seeking enriching, sustainable, and environmentally responsible stays. The rising demand for sustainable hotels is not just a trend; it’s a reflection of the evolving values and aspirations of modern travelers in India and worldwide.
