The tomorrow of the hospitality industry looks bright with sustainability and eco-friendly initiatives. Although customer experience has paved the way for the foundation of a hotel, sustainable thinking also plays an important role in today’s scenario. By becoming a part of the worldwide phenomenon that is sustainable tourism, as a hotel, you help make a lower ecological impact on nature, there is a reduction in the exploitation of natural resources that are getting depleted, and you can cater to tourists and guests that are more conscious, and above all, you can make your mark as a hotel that cares.
Started in November 2022, Hyatt Regency Trivandrum is a state-of-the-art five-star hotel located at the heart of Trivandrum, Kerala. Primarily a business hotel, Hyatt Regency Trivandrum stands for the wellness and comfort of its guests. Moreover, we are a hotel that believes in promoting sustainability and caring for the environment. And from these thoughts are what our future was born.
Some of the sustainability measures we follow to ensure the well-being of our surroundings are:
Solar power plant: We have installed a 300 KW solar power plant to generate 3 days of electricity that the hotel would need. With the solar panels, the plant generates 36000 units on an average per month.
EV charging station: Our holistic vision of a sustainable tomorrow and boosting our commitment towards responsible travel has enabled us to install an EV charging station at the hotel. This station will make EV charging seamless for hotel guests as they spend time with us.
Water bottling plant: To stop the use of single-use plastic bottles gradually, the hotel has set up the city’s first automated water bottling plant. This bottling plant processes 2000 bottles of IS 10500 2012 standard drinking water daily.
Sewage water treatment plan: A common element in almost all hotels, this plant can recycle the entire sewage water to process 160 KL of water per day which is used in cooling towers and for gardening purposes.
Other sustainability initiatives include heat recovery wheels, heat pumps for hot water, DRV, VFD chillers, building management, and chiller plant management.
When guests visit a hotel, they expect the organisation to be sustainable and be aware of their surroundings and protect them. We also start nurturing sustainable tourism in our hotel from the grassroots level by recycling collaterals like letterheads, using paper straws and wooden cutleries for takeaways, and using recyclable takeaway materials.
