Some of the initiatives that Treehouse has undertaken towards being more environmentally conscious Hospitality are:
- Switched to Glass bottles for water in rooms to reduce the use of single use plastic
- We have done away with disposable bottles for amenities like shower gel, shampoo, hand wash etc by installing dispensers in the washrooms
- Installed a 100KWA solar power plant at our Bhiwadi hotel as a pilot project and gradually installed them wherever it is feasible.
- Grew vegetables organically that are being consumed by the employees in employee cafeteria.
Rishi Surya Puri
Senior Vice President – Operations, Mayfair Hotels & Resorts Ltd.
As a spokesperson , for Mayfair Hotels and Resorts, I am proud to share that we take our responsibility towards the planet very seriously. Our hotels and resorts are situated in some of the most beautiful locations across India, and we recognize that it is our duty to ensure that we preserve these natural wonders for generations to come.
One of the key initiatives we have taken towards this end is to invest in sustainable infrastructure and technology. Our hotels and resorts are equipped with water conservation and recycling systems, energy-efficient lighting, and other eco-friendly amenities. We also source our ingredients and products from local suppliers who practice sustainable methods.
In addition to these measures, we have also launched campaigns to raise awareness about environmental conservation. On Earth Day, we organize special events and activities for our guests and staff, such as tree-planting drives, beach clean-ups, and eco-friendly art and craft workshops. We also encourage our guests to participate in our sustainability initiatives by providing them with information on how they can reduce their carbon footprint during their stay.
In conclusion, Mayfair Hotels and Resorts is committed to investing in sustainable infrastructure, raising awareness about environmental conservation, and giving back to the communities we serve. We hope to inspire others in the hospitality industry to join us in our efforts to protect our planet.
Dhavalakeerthi M K,
Vice President Marketing, Niraamaya Wellness Retreats & Business Group
As a responsible hospitality brand, Niraamaya Wellness Retreats is committed to promoting sustainable living and minimizing our impact on the environment. We believe that it is our duty to invest in the planet and take actions that protect and preserve our natural resources for future generations.
On the occasion of Earth Day, we take this opportunity to reflect on our initiatives and campaigns aimed at reducing our carbon footprint and promoting sustainable practices at our properties.
One of our key initiatives is our “Plant a Tree- Leave a Legacy” program, where we encourage our guests to participate in tree-planting activities at our properties. This not
only helps in reducing our carbon footprint but also promotes biodiversity and helps in maintaining ecological balance.
As part of our efforts to promote sustainability, we participate in Earth Hour by turning off our electricity supply from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm. During this hour, we invite all our guests to gather in our lobby to participate in a community event. Live guitar music adds to the
atmosphere, creating an unforgettable experience for everyone. We believe that small gestures can make a big impact, and by participating in Earth Hour, we hope to raise awareness about the importance of conserving energy and protecting our planet.
We are also committed to promoting sustainable living and supporting local communities through our zero-mile cuisine and slow food initiatives. We understand the importance of using locally sourced, seasonal ingredients and traditional cooking techniques, not only to enhance the flavours and nutritional value of our dishes but also to support local farmers and suppliers.
To ensure that we offer our guests the freshest and most flavorful dishes, we work closely with local farmers and suppliers to source our produce. By sourcing our ingredients from local producers, we are able to reduce our carbon footprint, support the local economy and community, and showcase the culinary traditions of the region.
Our chefs are passionate about using traditional cooking techniques, which allow them to prepare each dish with care and attention while enhancing the natural flavours of the ingredients. We believe that slow food is not just a culinary movement, but also a way of life that encourages a more mindful and sustainable approach to food.
To further promote our commitment to zero-mile cuisine and slow food, we offer our guests culinary workshops and cooking classes. Our workshops provide a platform for our guests to learn about sustainable and local food practices and explore different cooking techniques. Our cooking classes allow guests to experience the joy of cooking with fresh, locally sourced ingredients and take-home recipes that they can recreate in their own kitchens.
We believe that investing in the planet is not just a responsibility but an opportunity to create a better future for all. We remain committed to taking further steps towards a sustainable future and encourage our guests to join us in this journey.
