New Delhi, – In a significant meeting held at Kaushal Bhavan, New Delhi, the Chairperson of the Tourism and Hospitality Skill Council (THSC), Ms. Jyoti Mayal, along with CEO Mr. Rajan Bahadur and Mr. Vivek Shandilya, met with the Hon’ble Minister of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (I/C), Government of India, Shri Jayant Chaudhary. The discussion focused on the expansive opportunities within the tourism and hospitality sectors and the pivotal role of skill development in creating meaningful employment for the youth.

The Hon’ble Minister, Shri Jayant Chaudhary, emphasized the various scopes in the tourism and hospitality fields and highlighted the importance of skilling initiatives to empower the youth, ensuring they can access and secure rewarding job opportunities.

Ms. Jyoti Mayal and Mr. Rajan Bahadur provided an overview of the various initiatives undertaken by THSC under the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE) and in collaboration with the National Council for Vocational Education and Training (NCVET) and the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC). They elaborated on key programs such as the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY), Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Kaushal Samman (PMVK), and the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) under the RTD framework, all aimed at bolstering the skill development landscape in the tourism and hospitality sectors.

Mr. Rajan Bahadur, CEO of THSC, said, “Our commitment to enhancing the skill sets of the youth aligns with the national agenda of skilling India. Through our initiatives, we aim to create a robust ecosystem that not only supports the industry’s growth but also ensures that the youth are equipped with the necessary skills to thrive in the dynamic environment of tourism and hospitality.”

The meeting underscored the collaborative efforts between the government and THSC to foster a skilled workforce, contributing to the economic growth and development of the nation.

Established in 2014, THSC is an apex body for vocational education and skill development in India, focusing on Tourism and Hospitality. Since its inception, THSC has enrolled over 1.5 million individuals and successfully certified over a million youth. With a network of over 600 institutes, 100 colleges, and 2000 industry members, THSC’s vision is to create a robust, industry-aligned skilling ecosystem to promote the Tourism and Hospitality sector and meet its mission of providing millions of beneficiaries with respectable employment opportunities to serve customers’ needs.
